Open applications for the 2024 Google Summer of Code are underway. This global online program aims to engage new contributors in open source software development through 12+ week projects guided by mentors. Since 2005, GSoC has connected over 20,000 contributors with 800+ open source organizations and 19,000+ mentors, fostering ongoing contributions to the open source community.

January 22 – 18:00 UTC: Mentoring organizations submit applications to Google.
February 6 – 18:00 UTC: Deadline for mentoring organization applications.
February 21 – 18:00 UTC: Accepted organizations list published.
March 18 – 18:00 UTC: GSoC contributor application period begins.
April 2 – 18:00 UTC: GSoC contributor application deadline.
May 1 – 18:00 UTC: Accepted projects announced.
Work Period:
May 27: Coding officially begins!
July 12 – 18:00 UTC: Midterm evaluation deadline.
July 12 – August 19: Work Period.
August 26 – 18:00 UTC: Final week, contributors submit their work product.
Results:
September 3: Initial results of Google Summer of Code 2024 announced.
November 4 – 18:00 UTC: Final date for all GSoC contributors to submit their work product.
