Tender Arts Nigeria presents an opportunity for girls and young women between the ages of 18 and 25 years to sharpen their creative skills and develop their potentials for art careers in the near future.
They are providing girls and young women the opportunity to be empowered and mentored via artistic engagement with professionals in the field. Through several workshops and mentorship classes, these girls will enjoy one-on-one discussions with facilitators from the creative industries, and learn to undertake projects which include painting, drawing, recycling, mixed-media art, crafts, installation arts, printmaking, spoken word poetry and expressive writing.
According to Michelle Obama, the First Lady of the United States, "No country can ever truly flourish if it stifles the potentials of its women and deprives itself of the contribution of half of its citizens". Tender Arts Nigeria believes that girls and women are also creative and can achieve extraordinary feats in the art world if mentored and supported to achieve their dreams.
The program is scheduled to start in May and end in August of 2016. Registration opened on April 25th, 2016 and will close on May 6th, 2016. Registration for Africa4Her is absolutely FREE.
This project is supported by the US Embassy Nigeria, Terra Kulture, Young African Leaders Initiative Network, Washington D.C – Mandela Washington Fellowship Nigeria, among many others. It is an empowerment creative arts project for girls and young women in Nigeria. See poster for full details.
